Jacquie Ballantine is a retired speech-language clinician who taught as a contract instructor in Carleton University's School of Linguistics and Language Studies from 2009 to 2019.
Jacquie is currently a PhD candidate in the same department. She has a strong interest in community-based participatory research with autistic individuals and other neurodiverse people, particularly regarding their ways of communicating and how it intersects with non-autistic ways of communicating. She has more than 35 years of clinical experience in South Africa and Canada with people experiencing a wide variety of communication disabilities and more than 25 years of experience working with the autistic community.
She is a co-principal investigator with Professor Natasha Artemeva on several participatory research projects with autistic individuals.
