Xiangyu (Johnny) Ma is a PhD student in the School of Information Technology at Carleton University. He is working under the supervision of Dr. Wei Shi and exploring machine learning solutions on M-MIMO plus edge computing in the telecommunications field. He received his Honours Bachelor of Science, double majoring in Actuarial Science and Statistics from University of Toronto in 2018 and his Master of Information Technology from Carleton University in 2020. His research is primarily concerned with data science and machine learning tools. For his master's thesis, he investigated the significance of data balancing techniques on adversarial reinforcement learning in the anomaly detection field. Prior to starting his doctorate, he had already published 3 articles in reputable conferences and journals.
