Meet Harar. Harar Hall is a 22-year-old Carleton University graduate student and candidate for vice president external for Carleton’s Graduate Students Association.
They are also the creator of the COVID-19 Community Care Ottawa Facebook page, an online space dedicated to connecting individuals in need during this challenging time with those who can help.
“The idea came for me from panic. I was really scared on Friday,” Harar recalls.
Instead of succumbing to fear, Harar jumped into action to help their community. In less than a week, the page grew to more than 3,600 members and has hundreds of posts with members offering services and support, sharing resources and requesting assistance.
Harar’s driving force? Their compassionate soul and belief that we are in this together.
“I think it’s really nice when people realize the best option isn’t to be selfish or unkind, but that we’re going to have to help each other moving forward,” Harar shares.
